COWI Hungary Consulting and Planning Ltd. has been at service of its clients in the area of environmental protection since 1999, in the area of transportation since 2002 and regional development since 2005 . In January 2004 COWI Hungary has attained the quality assurance MSZ EN ISO 9001-2001.
As a member of the COWI Group, COWI HU is focusing on environmental protection and transportation consultancy, economic and financial analysis, regional planning and background studies for new legislation on the basis of its wide experince in Hungary and in Central and Eastern Europe.
In the domestic market, our clients are mostly ministries, public administrative bodies, municipalities, but the economic organisations, enterprises are also part of our client base. Within our international works, the EU Eastern-European research and development projects and the CIS governmental projects have to be emphasized.
COWI Hungary consists of 42 permanent employees, mainly qualified as agro-environmental, transport engineers, economists but among the professionals geologist, programmers can be also found.
The transportation segment of the firm deals with traffic-planning, feasibility studies and design. This special knowledge can be combined with the knowledge of environmental branch, e.g. in case of the preparation of noise maps and feasibility studies of transportation investment projects with the environmental assessment analysis.
Within our most important international projects we have developed the methodology for national environmental financial strategy, including the assessment of environmental costs, the exploration of the existing sources and the development of the financial strategy based on the methodology (EU, PHARE, TACIS, EU 5., R+D projects, etc.).
In the last two years COWI Hungary has been entrusted by the local management of the ERDF-PGF project elaboration work in Hungary. The aim of the elaboration of the projects from the Hungarian government side the effective use of the ERFA assistance of the period of 2004-2006.The work was done by a Consortium of 13 companies and led by COWI A/S. The project office was staffed by COWI HU. Besides the project management work, COWI Hungary was responsible to develop 14 full-fledged applications for SF-ERDF funding in the field of local environmental infrastructure, brown-field investment, rail and road transport.
The effectiveness of our activity is maintained by the available modelling, analysing, GIS softwares and environmental, social-economic databases, developed and used methodologies.
